Such a BIG BOY

August and September were banner months here at the Wilkinson household! Colin Michael turned 3 (HOLY CRUD), Brad was home for two weeks and Colin started Montessori preschool.

Being that I am such a big fan of birthdays (often accused of stretching mine out for days and days) we celebrated Colin's 3rd birthday on his actual birthday and with a birthday bash on the Saturday after his birthday. On the 24th, his actual birth date, his Mooma was here and gave him his first prezzie bright and early. What did the birthday boy get you ask? Frogs of course!

Colin is now the proud owner of two little frogs named Max and Tuck (note the ode to Max & Ruby and the Wonder Pets). He loves them and knows exactly how much to feed them and when. Such a memory that boy!

We spent the rest of the day giving him little prezzies and generally spoiling him then topping off the night with dinner at Cheesecake Factory (lame I know but it was the only place in Arlington that would SING) with mommy, mooma, Aunt Amanda W., Aunt Nat and his BFF Ryan (also celebrating his 3rd birthday). Much fun was had by all and special thanks to Amanda for the mid-dinner presents to the boys!!

The highlight of the birthday week was the return of DADDY!!!!! Brad got home on Thursday night and we celebrated Colin's birthday with family and friends on Saturday through Sunday.

The very next week we headed to Virginia Beach for a few days then back home so Colin could start Montessori. Woo hoo!

Totally Embarrassing

OK, I am completely embarrassed by the fact that I have not posted anything on Colin's blog since November of last year?!? Ugh. Well, I guess that is what happens when you have a 2 year old, work full time and are husband-less due to overseas travel!

So, to catch you up...Colin will be 3 this Tuesday! My oh my time does fly. He has grown so much the last few months that I am waiting for him to tell me we need to start on college applications. Yikes - rue the day!
He continues to blow me away with his ability to grasp vocab and concepts and his ability to REMEMBER EVERYTHING.

His saying of the week? "Get out of town, mommy!" I love it and every time he says it (which is always in the right context) I repeat it back to him and just laugh.

This has been a whirlwind summer...lots of travel and lots of fun. Here are a few highlights...

Father's Day at the Washington Nationals game

Kayaking with mooma

Story time with Granddad in New Mexico

And so much more...Noblesville to visit the Indy Wilks and the Indy 500, Deep Creek Lake TWICE...Williamsburg...FUN TIMES. More pictures to come but I need to get back to work for now.

Oh yeah, should probably mention that CW is getting a little sister in November:)

Lucky boy!!!

HALLOWEEN...ARGH!

What a difference a year makes! Last Halloween Colin was so young and not at all aware of what was going on, but this year was totally different. My Mom came over and we all went over to the old neighborhood and walked in the annual parade (with the Gs of course) and then spent the evening at the Gs. We took Colin and Ryan around to a few houses and they thought itwas the coolest thing ever.

They had little idea of what they were getting in their trick or treat bags but they knew it was fun to walk up and down stairs and talk to people.

Much fun!!!

Weekend in Williamsburg

We spent a wonderful two days in Williamsburg last weekend with the Wilkinson clan. Colin had a great time and spent quite a bit of that time hanging out with his Grandpa G. He loved sitting on his lap playing with the remote controls:)

A milestone of note was that we finally got a good pitcture of Colin and his Aunt Amanda West - woo hoo!

New Mexico

We just got back from an amazing trip to New Mexico to visit my Dad and Valerie. They moved there permanently in June and this was our first visit. We had a fantastic time. The ranch (500 acres!) was beautiful and the weather was perfect.

My sister Amanda and her husband Chris met us at the airport and we drove the three hours to the ranch from the Albuquerque airport. Colin was fantastic on the plane which was a huge relief. He had been a bit of a "pistol" the last few weeks so we were pretty worried the travel would be a nightmare. But, he proved us wrong...he was practically perfect. He was actually close to perfect the entire trip. Not a huge surprise though as the ranch is a little boys' paradise! Tons of land, dirt, water, animals and more...what more could you want. He hung out on the 4-wheeler,played with the dogs and cats, got on a horse with his Grandpa, threw rocks in the stream and generally had an awesome time.

We can't wait until our next trip!!!

WALKING

Oh yeah, have to write about our latest big milestone...Colin is walking now. He started off by walking a few steps the weekend of Farmapalooza and by the next week (Sept 29) he was walking across the room. He isn't running or jumping yet but I am pretty sure it won't be long now:)

Running Behind

I'm sadly behind in posting so I am going to try to catch up with a few updates.
We had a great weekend at the end of September in the mountains for Farmapalooza - a big party thrown by one of our neighbors that includes music, a moonbounce, food and lots of fun. My mom, Lynne and Wells came for the weekend and we all had a great time at the party and hanging out at the cabin.

Brad and Wells competed in and won the Badminton Tournament. Colin thought he could play too. Check it out...
